This year's opera was unique in almost every aspect.
The very first fact I was informed about this year's opera, literally made me think if I should even have participated or not. I somehow managed to convince myself to participate. I was almost shocked to hear that this year's opera was to be done all by us 7th graders and thus, was a bit embarrassed.
With genuine foresight, I expected most it to be a waste of time and also, probably unsuccessful.
For the first few days we started off with our practice, I found myself to be right: the choreographers simply shouting at each other, and all the performers off on their iPad playing multiplayer games with each other. As an expected result, we made no progress, and were running short of time.
It was then that our mathematics teacher Ms.Jyoti ma'am inquired about our practice, and brought things back on track. She being a good teacher and we being normally obedient students were reason to the drastic progress. We simultaneously were enjoying good time practicing with our friends. This sparked up interest in me. I was keenly looking forward for the opera. Just a couple of days before the opera, we had a few dry runs. It was real fun practicing and seeing our classmates and few of their performances too.
The day of the opera finally set in, the day I was eagerly waiting for. We were the only grade in the whole school and so the school looked quite empty. We were playing and chatting for quite long, since we had the whole day to spend till evening.
Then it was time to gear up for the opera. We all were excited to see how our classmates looked in their costumes. Most of us boys were a part of the Raudra Rasa [emotion of anger]. Our dance consisted of lots of formations and thus, we had to get our hands painted in white. We had tough time letting the paint dry, and in the process our costumes got a bit shabby but that didn't really seem to matter much.
Evening had set in and the grand show had begun, and we students were also witnessing it from one side of the stage. It all was going very well and I was also very impressed by the capability in us. I could say that it, in a way increased my trust on ourselves. Soon it was our turn, and we all were going to rock the show with our anger. I was highly excited when we just stepped onto the stage, unlike some of my friends who were partially nervous. It was a moment to relish. I believe we truly did great, and happily exited the stage.
After this, we had a good selfie session with friends. Thanks to our always active mood of adventure few of us went to the 4th floor of the building and came back. It was all dark but it was good to even know how some places just look at night. It was really like an adventure.
Some of us who just did not like that clumsy feeling went and washed off the paint from our hand, no matter whether we had to go onto the stage once again after all performances. I truly felt that the show was 'GOOD'. We had depicted all the Navarasas [the nine emotions] wonderfully.
Once the show was over, it was raining praises for us. Everyone liked it very much it seemed, and I also was of the opinion that we very well put it up that night. It truly was:
AN ENCHANTING SYMPHONY!
